Introduction to the guest speaker:

Robert Burrell is Professor of Law and Head of School at the School of Law, University of Sheffield. He also holds a visiting position as Professor at the Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne (Australia). Robert’s previous academic positions include posts at the Australian National University and King’s College London. He has been a Herbert Smith Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge and Visiting Professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. Robert teaches and researches in the field of intellectual property law, focusing on copyright and trade mark law. He is the author, with Allison Coleman, of Copyright Exceptions: the Digital Impact (Bet365 sportsbook review, 2005) and, with Michael Handler, of Australian Trade Mark Law (Oxford University Press, 2010; 2nd ed. 2016). His work has been cited by the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New Zealand, the Court of Appeal of England and Wales and in an Opinion of an Advocate General to the European Court of Justice.


Andrew Johnston is Professor of Company Law and Corporate Governance at the School Bet365 lotto reviewof Law at the Bet365 sportsbook review Sheffield and a member of the Sustainable Market Actors for Responsible Trade (SMART) Project (uio.no/smart), which is based at the Bet365 sportsbook review Oslo. He is also a research associate at the Bet365 sportsbook review Cambridge Center for Business Research, a member of the GOODCORP Research Network, and an Associate Fellow, Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI). Recently he has been a visiting professor at Mines ParisTech and Queensland Bet365 sportsbook review Technology. In the past, he has held positions at the Universities of Queensland, Cambridge and Warsaw.

His current research interests lie in the intersection of corporate governance, law, and heterodox and institutional economics. Recent papers have examined responses to the financial crisis, including the cap on bonuses in financial institutions, regulation of hedge funds and repo markets, the proposed amendments to the Shareholder Rights Directive, and the European Regulation on Credit Rating Agencies. As part of the Sustainable Companies project, he worked with Beate Sjåfjell, David Millon and others on an analysis of the possibilities of furthering sustainability through corporate law.
